Okay this may sound like alot to ask but.

About a year ago i downloaded this song off winmx or kazaa or limewire or whatever i was using at the time

"Project Pitchfork - Existence(VNV Nation Remix)"

and i'm totally clueless.

I always here "VNV" this and that and i never knew what that whole scene was about.

So i want you to explain to me your interests and why you have them.

musical interests? i suppose there's an aesthetic that goes along with it, but i've always been more into the music than the 'look.'

that'd take a VERY long time to explain fully, but it's more easily summed up in that i like what i like because certain things appeal to me musically and as a whole concept. certain things touch me almost spiritually.

beautiful melodic darker voices.
subject matter that deals with love, loss and longing.

melancholia ('the healthier sister of depression')

vnv, however... not really my thing. it's ok i suppose, but i don't consider myself a fan.
vnv nation is like dark techno, as far as i'm concerned...

it just happens to be like the nsync of the 'goth' scene these days.

i assume that's what you're talking about.
project pitchfork is pretty diverse within itself in terms of overall sound. there are some "hard" tracks like what you just mentioned, and some very light, airy melodic tracks.

you're a bright guy and i'm sure you're handy with google.com...

start with keywords 'ebm' 'goth' and 'industrial' and you'll learn a whole lot about that sort of thing. for reference, most of the music of the 'scene' these days comes from germany.

if any particular band interests you, i'll be happy to send you some tracks or even make you a mixed cd or two and send it via regular mail :)
